Centre Parcs

January 26, 2011

After a pretty rubbishy week we had a lovely, relaxing two weeks off over Christmas. We saw lots of family and friends, ate far too much (including two Christmas dinners – one cooked by me in our 45cm wide oven!) and just enjoyed chilling out together. And after that we got to go to Centre Parcs in Nottingham for my birthday weekend. The break was provided by the wonderful Willow Foundation and we had the most amazing time.

We stayed in a 1-bedroom executive apartment which was bigger than both floors of our house and absolutely gorgeous. Plus the bathroom had underfloor heating and a whirlpool bath so I basically wanted to live there forever!! We spent most of our time in the Sub Tropical Swimming Paradise, going down flumes and rides and rapids and getting some serious bruises in the process! It has an outdoor area which was amazing in the evening – the sky was black, it was about -1 C but we were happy and warm in the water and the steam was coming up off the water which looked beautiful. We also played a bit of adventure golf (I won!) and rode our bikes and our friends Iona and Dave came to visit on my birthday too.

It was wonderful to chill out and forget about everything for a few days before the chemo started again and we are so grateful to the Willow Foundation for giving us such a fab break. Thank you!!!

Celebrating my amazing hole in 1!

Andy with Iona and Dave – those are their normal faces!

The first chemo was pretty horrid, Andy had horrendous hiccups which meant he had no sleep for 4 nights, but this time round he’s got a sedative to stop them so really hoping that works so I can spend this weekend redecorating the study and not worrying about him!!
